An open letter to Major League Baseball and the MLB Players AssociationEnough with the goddam arguing. 110000 people have died. 40 million have filed jobless claims. Millions are unemployed. Millions of jobs are lost and never coming back.
Amid the protests, riots, and looting, the President is gassing peaceful protesters and herding them with horses to clear a path so he could have a photo op. Police are knocking elderly men to the ground and arresting reporters.
Are you all fucking blind AND deaf? You guys are all making millions of dollars and get the best health care even for a little blister on your pitching hand or a bruised back. You get chartered flights and the best hotels for your jobs.
You, players and owners alike, are making millions while the average American can’t afford to take the family to a game to have $10 cold hot dogs and $10 cups of warm beer.
You players are whining about taking cuts in pay for working less games. Your average salary is $4 million. Half of that is still a heckuva lot more than the average personal income of around 50 grand. You owners are whining, too, about the league losing 75 million a day. You’re Fucking BILLIONAIRES. You can afford it. You all can afford it. So stop you whining and your moaning.
You’re all acting like spoiled little brats. We already got one of those in the White House screwing things up. We don’t need you all screwing up the American pastime.
Play 82 games. Start on July 4. Then do the playoffs and World Series.
Players, stop being tone deaf and take a cut in pay. You can afford it.
Owners, lower your ticket and concession prices, give your stadium workers fat raises. You can afford it.
Unlike people who actually work for a living, remember that you are all getting paid to play a game.
PLAY BALL!!!!!
